TYPES OF ELECTRONIC LOCKS

Electronic locks perform identification authentication and authorization of users and entities by evaluating required login credentials that can include passwords, personal identification numbers (PINs), biometric scans, security tokens or other authentication factors. Amongst the most common types of electronic locks:

Electric Door Strikes

Electric door strikes replace the traditional strike faceplate often used with latchbar doors. An electrical current is supplied to the strike, which holds the latch in place, keeping the door locked until the release system is activated.

Magnetic Locks

Magnetic locks consist of an electromagnet and armature plate. With the electromagnet attached to the door frame and the armature plate to the door, a current passing through the magnet attracts the plat and holds the door shut.

Durable and easy to install with no interconnecting parts, magnetic locks are used mainly for indoor and outdoor glass doors, heavy duty doors, hollow metal doors, double-door and  herculite doors.

Keypad Locks

Commonly used in small businesses, office buildings, educational facilities, and other commercial buildings, keypad locks are increasing in popularity due to their remarkable convenience and utility. Here, the lock is controlled by an adjacent keypad where visitors type in a PIN code to unlock the door.

Card Reader Locks

Also called RFID locks, this type of system uses security tokens such as electronic key cards or key fobs to unlock doors. They’re commonly used in office buildings, hospitals and healthcare facilities, hotels and the hospitality industry, as well as educational facilities. Today’s new generation readers will also enable you with mobile entry capabilities.

Biometric Locks

Biometric locks employ high-tech fingerprint, voice, face, eye or palm scan recognition technology to verify identity before allowing a locked door to be opened.

SMART ACCESS CONTROL WITH ELECTRONIC LOCKS

Easy to integrate, deploy and manage, smart access control systems enhance overall building security and provides operational efficiencies by allowing security, IT, property and facility managers real-time visibility into any electronic lock connected to your network, from a central or mobile location.

Benefits of Smart Access Control Systems

  • Real-time monitoring from a central on-site station or remote online dashboard
  • Remote activation or deactivation of doors, including partial or entire building lockdowns
  • An entire building lock system can be programmed, for example selected doors can be locked after service hours
  • Network connectivity offers cost-effectiveness for large areas, multi-story buildings and remote locations
  • An almost unlimited scalability to meet your future building access and security management needs
