There are various types available, including the indoor motion detector, the (waterproof) outdoor motion detector and the motion detector camera. The motion detector camera is an excellent piece of security equipment: it continuously records all movement within its range and if something untoward were to occur in the range of the motion detector camera, it would be recorded-providing excellent potential evidence.
Outdoor motion detectors are ideal for large areas outside, such as the yard or garden, or for any outside area surrounding a place of business. Outdoor motion detectors are ideal for keeping intruders away from any property, but particularly business premises. It is imperative that the outdoor motion detector camera is attached to another security device (such as an alarm) so that if intruders do access your property, attention is drawn and the appropriate authorities are notified. Both outdoor and indoor motion detectors can be incorporated as part of manned surveillance if you have this on your premises. If you do not have manned surveillance on your premises and only have a motion detector camera, your indoor and outdoor motion detectors should be wired into a central security system. Then, if someone were to activate one of the motion detectors, an alarm would sound, scaring the intruder away and notifying the police.
Outdoor motion detectors and motion detector cameras are usually an integral part of the business security system, but the indoor motion detector is an important part of the home security system. Unfortunately, outdoor motion detectors installed in homes are prone to many false security breaches; this is because of the intense activity in the typical residential neighborhood, as opposed to commercial sites. Motion detector cameras can cause similar problems in a residential neighborhood; it records anything and everything, making for tedious viewing. Also, innocent passers by may repeatedly set off your motion detectors, leading to neighbors calling out the police unnecessarily. For these reasons, it is not recommended that you install outdoor motion detectors or a motion detector camera in your home unless you live in a large property in secluded grounds. It is commercial and industrial buildings that benefit most from an outdoor motion detector or motion detector camera being installed as part of a monitored surveillance system. In this respect, outdoor motion detectors can draw peoples’ attention to your business if an intruder enters and some are so small they can provide security protection without anybody even knowing they are there. |
